For two-dimensional, work such as drawings of all mediums, I offer a flat price.
Instead of charging by the hour, I have a simple selection system, but in special
cases,
if what you want is not in my system, then simply contacting me would be the best
way
to find exactly what you're looking for.
Good communication through you "the buyer" and me "the artist" is definitely
encouraged.
I only enjoy selling a piece if it fulfills the buyer's need one hundred percent.
You can contact me to this link:
steeldoerr@yahoo.com
My address for receiving payment is: Stephen Doerr, P.O.
Box 182, Alton IL., 62002 send check or money, or by pay pal.
The system is simple: depending upon the level of work determines the price.
For instance, if you are interested in a simple "Pinup Character" ink (
a
simple black and white
ink drawing of your own copyrighted character ) That would be one of my
cheapest
commissions, since it wouldn't take that much time to do.
The prices would rise considering the size of the image, if you wanted
color
and what means of medium to color it with, if you wanted background or etc.,
etc..
Other types of images would be "Action Scene" which will be available
in a black and white ink as well as color.
There are highly detailed images containing two or more characters in the
process of
any activity or action, with or without background.
"Portraits" are another style of commissions.
Portraits are images focused solely on the face of the character, for wall
hangings
or avatars or whatever your use may be.
Important notice: I do not prefer to do still life portraits of any
actual people in reality.
I have no problem doing characterization of a real-life person through a
cartooning style
of choice.
But I do not enjoy doing still life portraits, I don't feel that I am
particularly good at them,
and they're not enjoyable for me to do.
Here's an example of what I do like to do: <link> and here's an example of what
I would
prefer not to do: <link>
"Cinematic Surroundings" is what I call a image that is primarily focused
on a character
and his or her surroundings not usually consisting of much action.
Example would be a character in a relaxed or steady pose surrounded by a
detailed
background.

Before continuing if you decide to commission me, please read my guidelines
concerning
the content of the commission.
The best way to find out if I'm willing to do something is to simply contact me
and find out,
However there are some definite do's and do nots.
I'm willing to do commissions concerning adult themes, but I will not do
anything depicting
rape, hard-core domination and humiliation, scat or water sports or anything
else equally
sick or disturbing.
I will especially not do anything depicting sexual behavior towards children or
violence.
If you're into such things don't even bother contacting me, in fact promptly put
a bullet
in your head.
I have no problem doing something depicting excessive violence as long as it has
no sexual relations to it, any erotic work I do is always consensual and is not
violence related.
I offer a open mind to all preferences or lifestyles as long as they don't
conflict with the
following guidelines above.

I respect all copyrights so any character that you want in a commission must be
copyrighted to yourself or you must have written permission to use the identity
and
likenesses of the character from its creator.
Permission must be able to be confirmed, otherwise I will not be able to use
them.
I will not do any characters that are licensed from movies, TV shows, comic
books,
games etc., etc..
I will however do false likeness of a popular character.
A false likeness is a perfectly legal knockoff of a license character.
This is done by making the likeness of a license character significantly
different from its
actual design.
Though this is a very controversial subject I will only considered if the design
you have
is definitely different from the license character.
So different in fact that it would be described as inspired by such and such.
A good example of this would be something like this:
But it defeats the point if you think about it, so you might as well create your
own character.

For commissions concerning sculptures I use the same flat pricing system
that I use for my two-dimensional commissions.
Prices determined by size and type of sculpture, but as always if there is
a commission you have in mind that does not fit the flat pricing system I have
here.
Please feel free to contact me and described what you're interested in and
negotiations
can pursue from their.
My one goal that I feel separates me from other sculptors in the line of work
that I do.
Is that I want to be affordable as possible to the common artist who once a
three-dimensional
model or sculpture of their own design.
To do this and still make a profit, there are two major choices in sculpture
commissioning
that determined price.
The type of medium I use to sculpt with is called Super Sculpey, it is a
man-made polymer
that can be baked at low temperatures, and once baked it takes on a solid
plastic like quality
which is permanent and will not corrode or breakdown overtime as long as it
remains in a dry
room temperature atmosphere.
The cheaper way of commissioning a sculpture, is to basically commission a Super
Sculpey
original.
Prices are determined by the flat fee selections I offer as well is if you
choose to have me paint it
as well.
You basically end up with the original handmade piece, you would think this
would be more expensive
then a resin cast, when actually it's not concerning the cost of materials and
mold making process.
Advantages: it is the most cost-efficient way to have an original
handmade sculpture.
Disadvantages: though the Super Sculpey is a permanent medium after
firing, it is not as structurally sound
as plastic resin.
Though I try to make my original sculptures as strong as possible, thin areas
such as fingers, wings etc.
are fairly brittle and could be damaged quite easily.
When I sculpt a figure I give it a aluminum foil core so it has sound structural
integrity.
So a strong figure might survive a fall without breaking apart, but would most
likely get stress cracks
that on the bright side are pretty easy to repair.
A more expensive, yet more professional way is to commission a resin cast.
A resin cast is a plastic duplicate of the original sculpture it could be
handled
without any worry of breaking at all, it will never corrode or breakdown.
And can survive in any environment whether it be damp or heat or cold, it would
probably melt if
you threw it in the oven, but why in the hell would you do that??..
For an additional fee, the rubber mold could be bought for your own use to any
way you see fit.
All that I ask is that you don't alter any licensing information on the
sculpture.
I'm completely supportive of the idea that if you were to buy the mold of your
license character
that you hired me to make in means to make back the money you spend on the
commission
as well as make a possible profit.
All I ask is that you leave my name on it so people will know it was my
workmanship and advertise
this web site in what ever avenues you go about selling it.
For the time-tested method of advertising, is word to mouth.
Besides, if resin figures of your design sells well I would like to keep you as
a customer for new editions,
let's work together!!...
Advantages: quite obvious, it being plastic there is no fear of it ever
breaking and virtually has a
permanent shelf life under almost any condition.
Disadvantages: primarily the cost, it is quite expensive for even the
most simple sculpture.

"Bust" a bust is a simple sculpture of a character's head attached to a
stand of the
commissioners design.
"Basic Figure" a basic figure sculpture is a single figure in a pose of
the commissioners choosing.
It can be from the very simple, to the very dynamic.
Coming with or without a stand concerning the nature of the pose.
"Theme Plateau" a theme plateau is a sculpture consisting of a figure as
well as a sculpted mini
environment.
It could be as simple as a sculpted object that the figure sits on or stands, or
it could be a small
section of forest or sci-fi fantasy land for the figure to be displayed in, the
possibilities are endless.
"Community Event" a community event sculpture is a lot like the theme
plateau, where environment
is included for a stand, but this one will consist of two or more figures
sculpted together as one.

Selecting the scale of the commission is added to the flat price.
The sizes are determined by the scale in which you want
your commission to be.
In other words a 6/8 in. scale sculpture may not be that exact height,
depending on the pose or situation of the sculpture.
But it will be sculpted to that scale.
I am willing to do sculptures that are twelve inches and taller.
But that is only allowed for basic figures, and I would suggest
something smaller if you're on a budget.
It takes a lot of material to make one of that size and a great deal
of time invested in making it.
Believe it or not I can crank out figures at a 6/8 in. scale much
faster than that of a twelve inch figure.
There's a lot of detail in that.
3/5 in. according to scale - $1.00
6/8 in. according to scale - $9.50
12/or taller in. according to scale $100.70
